The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music e' un'organizzazione nata dalla cooperazione tra le Quattro academie musicali reali del Regno Unito, con lo scopo di offrire una struttura autorevole di valutazione del progresso nello studio musicale a tutti coloro che lo desiderino.
Strutturato in un esame preliminare, 8 gradi progressivi e un diploma, fornisce un cammino graduale diverso da quello tradizionale del conservatorio di stampo italiano, ed e' espressione della filosofia della cultura musicale tipica del mondo anglosassone: in particolare, si tratta di una cultura musicale inclusiva, non esclusivista, aperta a tutti e senza limiti d'eta', che vede l'educazione musicale come un viaggio di estremo valore per chiunque lo tinraprenda, al di la' del traguardo finale, che non deve essere per forza una carriera musicale.
